GIALLANZA

Professional football Career (1991-2007)

Gaetano’s professional playing career continued more than 15 years and took him across football cultures in Switzerland, France, and England.

He began his senior career in Switzerland, playing for FC Basel in the early 1990s. Later he joined Servette FC, where he was part of the squad that won the Swiss Championship in the 1993/1994 season. During his time at BSC Young Boys, he established himself as one of the league’s most effective forwards. His Swiss top-flight career also included FC Sion won the Swiss Cup in the 1995/96, FC Lugano, and FC Aarau.

In the late 1990s, Gaetano moved to France, where he played for FC Nantes in Ligue 1, gaining valuable international experience of the highest level.

He later continued his career in England, at Bolton Wanderers in the Premier League and Norwich City. Although injuries affected parts of his time in English football, these years further shaped his understanding of resilience, preparation, and the realities players face away from the spotlight. He concluded his professional playing career with Darlington FC in the English Football League before retiring in 2007.

Throughout his playing years, Gaetano earned respect for his longevity, adaptability across leagues, and commitment to professional development.

Transition to Player Representation

Following his retirement from professional football, Gaetano transitioned into player representation and football management, a natural evolution that allowed him to apply his on-field experience, international network, and first-hand understanding of the player’s realities.

Founding of Giallanza Sport GmbH

On this professional foundation, Gaetano founded Giallanza Sport in 2012, with headquarters in Switzerland. The agency was created with a clear objective to provide structured, personalised, and long-term career support for footballers.

Giallanza Sport focuses on strategic career planning, contract negotiations, and holistic career management. Particular emphasis is placed on involving players’ families and support networks, ensuring stability and clarity so that players can concentrate fully on their performance on the pitch.

Over the years, Gaetano has represented and advised professional footballers and coaches, supporting them through key phases of their careers and transitions within the football industry.
